Sarah Shealy is a Registered Nurse, Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM), Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant, and mother of two amazing girls, both born at home. She has served women and caught babies in both home and hospital settings since 1995. She has practiced in Connecticut, New York, Utah, and California. Sarah has caught over 800 babies during her career as a Nurse Midwife, and attended countless more. She has also assisted in over 120 c-sections. Sarah's Midwifery education began at Yale University. At Yale, there were few opportunities for out of hospital birth experience and she sought out a local direct entry Midwife who was generous enough to mentor her in the art of homebirth. Another CNM with a homebirth practice offered mentorship and a CNM was her first partner in a homebirth practice in Colorado. Sarah has worked with low risk and high-risk women, in community and private practice settings, in and out of the hospital. She is an expert in normal birth and passionate about supporting women and families in their choices whatever they may be. Recently her love of the art and science of lactation prompted her to become a Lactation Consultant. She is especially fascinated with the postpartum experience in our culture. This extensive experience she has had with women in different settings brings a quiet observant knowing to her style. She is a perceptive and seasoned care provider.

Constance Rock, LM, CPM - "Since becoming a midwife, I've had the honor of attending over 1000 births, as well as the privilege of having over 20 apprentices, many who are now licensed. In addition to being a Licensed Midwife and the mother of four, I am also a wife, author, and entrepreneur.

What I pride myself most on is my trust in the instinctive nature of birth, an ability to be completely present with the families I care for, my gentle hands off style and my belief that women are amazing and the absolute authority on their own bodies.

I was first introduced to midwifery and home birth after my first child was born in the hospital in 1985. That's when I began attending other women's births to provide the comfort and support I felt was missing

in my hospital experience. Three years later, after the beautiful nurturing home birth of my second child, I started my midwifery apprenticeship, and began catching babies by 1993. I had another son and daughter born at home in 1993 and 1995.

Since I intended to open a free standing birth center in Los Angeles, I did a six month internship at a high volume birth center in El Paso, Texas. After returning, I completed the California challenge process and became a Licensed Midwife in February of 2000. In December of that same year I opened The Hollywood Birth Center. During the five years I was clinical director of this thriving practice I started specializing in water birth. I also began producing educational videos and speaking to international audiences about gentle birth. In 2005 I opened Sacred Entrance Midwifery Services, which then became The Sanctuary Birth & Family Wellness Center, located in West Los Angeles. In fall 2009, after selling The Sanctuary to partners, I relocated my family to Middletown, California which is two hours north of San Francisco, where I'm currently writing a memoir and enjoying the quiet, peaceful lifestyle that only rural living can provide.

During the 24 years I've been caring for women and their families, I've had the opportunity to experience every type of family from high profile to low income, from teenage to middle aged. I've seen first time moms give birth in 45 minutes and I've sat with laboring women for 5 days before their babies were born. The only constant has been my love for families and my passion for providing women with quality maternity care that supports and honors the profound life altering experience it is. To me, practicing midwifery isn't just about catching babies; it's about providing education and support that has families thrive.

Because former Los Angeles clients sometimes request that I attend their next birth, I have special arrangements with Art of Nursing. This arrangement allows me to bring return clients into my care in collaboration with Art of Nursing. Because most of my family lives in Los Angeles, including my two older children, I come to Los Angeles often and can provide some of your prenatal care. I then arrive two weeks before your due date and stay until after the baby is born. If you wish to speak with me directly about this type of arrangement, I can be reached at 818-324-2678".
